Level 2 Fractions covers the fractions only learning intentions from the Linear Series for children aged about 7 to 9 years old (in Years 3 and 4).

At this level, students understand that fractions are

equalparts of whole numbers, and they can recognise all common unit fractions (e.g., ¼). They are still working on strategies to find fractions of sets (e.g., one quarter of 20 is 5) and the ordering of fractions (e.g., that ½ is bigger than ¼). They have briefly been introduced to improper fractions (those with values over 1) and are starting to learn some of the more common equivalent fractions (e.g., 1/2 is the same as 2/4 ).
